Niagara County Office For the Aging – Eat Well…Stay Well Dining Program at Olcott Fire Hall

Eligbitility: Any person who is 60 years of age or older, and their spouse or disabled dependent child no matter what age, may participate. Disabled residents residing in a housing center that is a designated congregate meal site may also attend.

Telephone: (716) 438-4031 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m for reservations, which should be made 24 hours in advance. Information on menus may be obtained from Site Directors or from the Office for the Aging.

Cost:  Everyone who is eligible for the program has an opportunity to contribute. The current suggested contribution for those 60 years of age or older and those individuals under 60 if they are the spouse of a senior 60+, or a disabled resident residing in a housing center that is a designated congregate meal site  is $3.25, while the required charge for those under 60 years of age is $5.00. All contributions are kept confidential and no one will be denied a meal due to inability to contribute.

Niagara County Office For the Aging – Eat Well…Stay Well Dining Program – Home Delivered Meals

Eat Well…Stay Well Home Delivered Meals Program can deliver hot meals and cold meals to participants’ homes, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., 52 weeks a year.  Hot meals include meat, chicken, or fish, vegetables, and/or  salad, bread, dessert and a carton of 2% milk.  Cold meals include a sandwich or salad , dessert or fruit and a carton of milk.  Frozen weekend meals, which are the same as hot meals, are delivered on Fridays. Some special diets are accommodated.  Meals can be delivered as few or as many days as needed. There is no delivery on holidays.

Eligbitility: Any Niagara County resident 60 years of age or older who is homebound due to illness, physical handicap, or advancing age, and who is unable to prepare their own meals. Services are available based on need without regard to income. Eat Well…Stay Well Home Delivered Meals Program referrals are accepted from clergy, physicians, friends, relatives, hospitals, health and social agencies, in addition to self-referrals.

Cost: The suggested contribution is $3.25 per meal. Collection of your contributions is arranged at the time you request the service. No one will be refused service if they cannot afford the suggested contribution.


NY Connects

NY Connects Niagara County offers information and assistance, education and screening to individuals, their families and/or caregivers, as well as people employed in helping service professions. They assist Niagara County residents in making informed choices regarding their long term care needs by letting residents know who provides those services nearest to them and how to get in touch with service providers.

Newfane Golden Agers

The Golden Agers is social group sponsored by the Town of Newfane for Seniors aged 60 years and older. Each meeting includes a business meeting as well as entertainment, which usually begins at 1:00pm. A trip is planned once a month, either local or out of town. Coffee and tea are provided, however a mug and plate/utensils (for the potluck lunch) need to be brought from home.  

Hours:  2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, with a potluck lunch on the 2nd Thursday, 10:00am – 2:00pm

Seniors @ St. Brendans on the Lake

St. Brendans On the Lake has a program open to seniors 50 years and older. They meet the second Monday of every month at 10:00 am for an hour of coffee and socializing.  A business meeting starts at 11:00 am. After the meeting attendees might go out to lunch, have guest speakers or play cards.  72 members strong, this group does not require members to be of the catholic faith, but this group is under the church umbrella.

The Dale Association‘s Lockport Senior Centre

Programs at The Dale Association improve quality of life by providing individualized services and support systems to maintain dignity, independence and self-determination for people as they age.  Many of their staff members travel throughout Niagara County to assist participants.
